Mission Statement
The mission of the International Right of Way Surveying & Engineering Committee is to provide advice and assistance to the association on all matters related to methods, or procedures, for the survey of real property or interests in property for right-of-way purposes. It shall examine, monitor and report on legislation or changes in legislation pertaining to such methods or procedures. It shall cooperate with the International Liaison Committee in all interagency or legislative activities and shall keep other industry committees informed.
The functions of this committee shall be as follows:
- It shall study and report concepts, practices and procedures relating to the survey of real property, or interests in real property, for public or private use, and for whatever purpose.
- It shall study and report on concepts, practices and procedures related to defining, depicting and describing real estate or rights of way and the subsequent construction on the affected parcel and any remainder parcel.
- It shall promote and encourage persons, schools and other organizations, involved in the practice of surveying, to participate with it in the development of reasonable requirements and standards for right of way and real estate surveys.
- It shall encourage chapters, acting through chapter right-of-way survey committees, to participate with it in its studies and in the performance of functions similar to its own, on the local level.
- It shall review the work and programs of the chapter committees and shall make periodic reports to the President Elect and the Executive Vice President on committee activities at the chapter or international levels.
