This course equips right of way and infrastructure professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage and resolve disputes that arise during the acquisition process. Participants explore the nature and sources of conflict, and gain a comprehensive understanding of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, conciliation, collaborative law, and other hybrid approaches. The course emphasizes the practical application of ADR tools and techniques, ethical considerations, and the relationship between ADR and formal legal processes such as eminent domain. Through interactive exercises, case studies, and real-world scenarios, participants will develop strategies to address conflicts, evaluate risks, and facilitate mutually acceptable outcomes while maintaining professional relationships and project efficiency.
Credentialing
  • New SR/WA: An intermediate elective course that can be applied towards the RWP certification. 
  • Industry: An intermediate course that is required for the Oil & Gas Pipeline and Transportation Industry pathways for the SR/WA designation. It can also be applied towards the Generalist pathway for the RWP certification.
