1. How do I renew my membership?
- Online: Log in to your profile at https://www.irwaonline.org/. In the upper right-hand corner of the website, you will see a button that says “Renew Dues.” This will take you to your renewal invoice and there, you may pay the open invoice. Upon completion of the transaction, an email receipt will be sent to you.
- Mail: A paper copy of the renewal invoice is sent to the billing address on file. To pay by mail, you can either fill out the invoice with your credit card information in the space provided or with a check (payable to: IRWA) for the amount due. The invoice can be returned with the envelope provided or sent to the following address:

3. When does my membership expire?
Memberships for the IRWA run for one calendar year. That means that all memberships are valid from January 1st to December 31st each year. Please note that memberships are prorated when joining throughout the year.

4. Are there any offerings for retired members?
Yes, there are retired membership options. Retired members are considered regular members who are not working or employed. There are two types of retired members: Active and Inactive.
Retired – Active: May hold office; may continue to use the SR/WA or other credentials; must follow current recertification requirements; may instruct IRWA Courses; is entitled to a reduction of 25 percent of the annual dues for regular members.
Retired – Inactive: May not hold office; must use “Ret.” after their designation or certification and on any individual letterhead, cards or other professional forms; no recertification requirements; may not instruct IRWA courses; is entitled to a reduction of 75 percent of the annual dues for regular members.”
If this sounds like an option for you, please see the retired membership application. State that you are transferring status to a retired member. 5. What are the Membership Categories?
- Regular Member: Any member joining the Association shall be considered a regular member.
- Student Member: Regular members who are currently enrolled full time at a postsecondary institution; student members shall not have the right to hold office.
- Retired Member: Regular members who are not working or employed.
- Agency Members: Agency members under an agency agreement.
- Corporate Members: Corporate members under an corporate agreement.

1. What courses have I taken?
Go to www.irwaonline.org. Click on Education > For Students > Your Course History. You will then be prompted to sign in using your email address and password associated with your IRWA account. After signing in, you will be able to see your education history.

2. Where can I find information on becoming a Course Coordinator?
You must go through the IRWA Course Coordinator Training online on IRWA University, which can be found here and then pass the exam with a score of 70 percent or better.

3. What is a Credentialing Concierge?
Credentialing Concierge is a member benefit that removes the guess work from gaining your next credential by telling you exactly which IRWA certification is within your reach based upon your course history. This tool can be found by going to www.irwaonline.org. Click on Education > Credentialing > Credentialing Concierge. You will be prompted to sign in using your email address and password associated with your IRWA account. After signing in, you will be able to access your personalized credentialing concierge.

4. Where can I register for a course?
For classroom-based courses, go to www.irwaonline.org. Click on Education > Students > Classroom Education. From there, click on the course series, then the class you are looking for. Scroll down and click on “Register for this class now.”
For online courses, go to www.irwauniversity.org and then click on “Online” underneath “Take A Class.” Classes may be searched for by course series discipline.

6. How do I promote a course that our Chapter will be holding?
A course brochure/registration form will be created and provided to the course coordinator in PDF format. This is to be used for local promotion at the Chapter’s discretion after the CSMA for that particular course is processed by IRWA Headquarters. IRWA Headquarters will promote the course on the IRWA website, online calendar, Right of Way Magazine, social media and through monthly education update emails. IRWA local Chapters are not permitted to use the IRWA membership email list to promote courses and special events to the entire Association. Email promotions from the Chapter are limited to its local area.

7. How do I find an Instructor for our course?
Go to www.irwaonline.org. Click on Education > For Instructors > Find An Instructor. Instructors may be searched for alphabetically by name or by course.

8. Why do I need to fill out a CSMA for every course that our Chapter is holding?
The CSMA agreement defines the roles and responsibilities of IRWA Headquarters and the IRWA Chapter promoting and sponsoring the IRWA education course as designated in the form, which must be filled out by the Chapter Education Chair. All complete CSMA’s received by IRWA Headquarters will be processed within five business days.
